Congratulations to @brownstain3390 on his epic World Championship race @molokai2oahu seventh place finish (stock division ) and first place in 40plus age group. In February, ROB called me with his decision and proposition to help train him for this grueling channel crossing. The journey was amazing full of fitness and spiritual development. On race day 50% went to plan the other 50% was completely erratic. Massive thank you to the legendary big wave surfer and prone paddle border @chris.owens01 for his expert knowledge on direction and effort output. Watching ROB finish second behind his idol and prone paddle boarding legend @allpaddling was a truly special site. at the finish line ROB was already talking about how he is going to change certain things for a win next year. He told me “we’re coming back and we’re going to win” - I said “sick!” - thank you to his sponsors for the strong support @volcom @barkboards @surfcitysurfshop @wb_oceanrescue

**Stand 10 End-of-Day Report**

Incident: 6 rescues, 30 preventable measures, 1 minor medical.
Conditions: Waves were 2 to 3 feet with a 10-second interval. Winds were out of the southwest, switching to southeast at 20 to 25 mph.
Notes: Arrived at the beach at 10 AM to high tide and aprox 25 patrons. By noon, we were called down from our stands due to lightning within 3 miles. Upon returning, the tide had dropped significantly, and a substantial rip current formed directly in front of the stand.

At approximately 12:30 PM, two siblings under 13 were the first victims caught in the rip current. After bringing them to shore, then immediately I went out for two more rescues—a father, approximately 40 years old, and his 16-year-old daughter in the same rip current. It took some work, but we got them safely to shore.

Later, around 2 PM, a 45-year-old woman with a boogie board was pulled from the same rip current, and again at 4:20 PM, a 14-year-old boy on a boogie board was rescued from the same rip.

Upon leaving, we educated beach patrons and children about the rip current and informed them that I was leaving the beach. Always swim in frount of a Lifeguard. @wb_oceanrescue

Dear Diary,

It was an extra special day in the South Kingdom of Crystal. Captain @s_proffitt honored Guards @brownstain3390 and @edasurf with the privilege of patrolling the Crystal Waters. Due to the 10-second, 3-foot ground swell from a distant hurricane, the morning was busy. From 11 AM to 1 PM on July 5th, we had three active rescues and 22 preventative measures from our stand, Stand 13, alone. The total squad on the full beach strand had 54 active rescues during the same period.

What made this day even more special was that my family @nealiefinn @daxzzila @gill.feld @afeld.man and kids were on the beach, observing it all. In between rescues, Guard Brown and I analyzed his upcoming world championship paddleboard race in three weeks. We were also visited by local legend @masonhycebarnes . He and Guard Brown talked about their future plans to surf the biggest barrel in the world.

At 5:30 PM, as we walked off the beach, it was crowded, and we left it in God’s hands.

Today, EDA Surf had the honor of sitting with legendary big wave surfer and barrel expert @brownstain3390 aka Rob Brown at Stand 12 for 8hrs on the southend of Wrightsville Beach NC. In February, Rob contacted RUTTKAY to help him prepare for the race of his life: the Molokai to Oahu race on July 28. Since then, we’ve been training tirelessly for this epic event.

**🗓️ Tomorrow, from 12 PM to 6 PM, Rob is hosting a paddleboarding experience at his South End beach house on Banks Channel.** You’re invited to come test out the famous @barkboards paddleboard and record your best of two times around a course set up by Rob.
